Online Safety and Anti-Trafficking
With the proliferation of online games, dating applications, social media outlets, and AI it is sometimes hard to distinguish what is real and what is not. It can be even harder for young people who are meeting new people online to tell who is trying to be friendly and who may have illegal activities in mind.
This course is taught by a volunteer with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) with first hand experience in dealing with individuals who will exploit a child for their own personal gain.
This course will teach the students:
Do's and Don'ts of online interactions
How to protect your privacy
How to easily look up a persons information online.
What to do in the event you do find yourself interacting with someone with bad intentions.
We will go over creating a persona you can use to separate your real self from your online self
Common grooming techniques
Common money scams
Lesser known scams
